Google announces mobile friendly websites will be ranked higher
Mobile Friendly Websites will be ranked higher
Google has announced that from the 21st April 2015, they will be ranking responsive websites – mobile friendly websites- higher in their search engine results.
In 2014 for the first time, internet searches made on mobile devices – mobile phones, tablets and laptops were higher than those used on desk top PCs; and it can only improve as more and more people get intelligent mobile devices and move away from desk top computers.
Remember the date – April 21st 2015 – if your rankings of a non mobile friendly website start to fall, its probably down to one thing –Google’s latest algorithm update
Get your website mobile friendly before you start to drop places in search engines.
Rank Higher With A Responsive Website!
What will be the effects on your business for ranking lower in search results?
- Less visitors to your website.
- Lower enquiries.
- Less sales.
Can your business sustain a hit like this?
What Is A Responsive Design Website?
A responsive design website is one that can adapt automatically to any device. Mobile devices have a wide range of screen sizes, small mobile phones, medium, large, tablets of varying sizes, laptops with screens from 11 inches to 20+. A mobile friendly website will deliver the site in a compatible size to the viewer. The viewer will not need to constantly change the screen magnification, the buttons and menu items will be off a good size for ease of navigation and the visitor will have a good user experience.
WHY WILL RESPONSIVE WEBSITES RANK HIGHER?
Google wants to provide its customers – those who are using its search engine to search the internet to have a higher user experience (UX). Google wants to provide the visitor with what they want, in a fast and accurate way. So, providing the visitor with a responsive website if they are using a mobile device goes along way to satisfying their customer. A quality user experience.
And that’s what we want you to provide too, a quality user experience. One that shows your website to the right people on the right device. We want to target visitors with your website and content that they are searching for, all with a mobile friendly website.
How Will A Non Mobile Friendly Website Effect Rankings?
Have you ever search the internet for a website, to find that when you click on it, the font sizes are too small, the buttons are too small and too close together? You hit one button to go to a certain page and find that you are on another page? Images and products are too small. You are forever having to make the screen magnification larger? The telephone button did not work, you couldn’t … if you tried, to send an email to the site owner……….. Annoying right? Your user experience was not quality!
How long did you stay on that website? Not long I bet, and you so you started the search again and found a mobile friendly website, right? And stayed on it for ages, found everything you needed, probably even brought something that you could easily see, or sent a message to the site owner and if it was a restaurant or venue site, probably called them easily. Your user experience was quality.
So, how this effects your rankings of a non mobile friendly website – the overall user experience quality was low. Was poor. This effects the bounce rate – how quickly visitors move off of a website – and a high bounce rate tells Google that either the website does not offer the information that visitors expect or that the website is not offering a quality experience.
HOW CAN WE HELP?
We can provide you with a responsive design website. But that is not the golden nugget, we still need to optimise the mobile friendly design so that it gets matched to visitors search enquiries. After all, what is the point in having any website, if it cannot be found in searches on-line?
